Amanda Jones, AFCA

Biography:

Amanda was born in Southend-on-sea, Essex, England, and moved to Alberta in 1968. She has lived in Richmond, B.C. since 1986. She feels at home on the West Coast, and is very much inspired by the rugged beauty of the Pacific Rim.

Amanda developed an early interest in art and experimented with oils. It was not until 1991, when she discovered watercolour, that she decided to take her artwork seriously. After studying with several respected Canadian artists, she attained AFCA status with the Federation of Canadian Artists. Amanda paints primarily in acrylics and watercolour. She has a realistic yet impressionistic style and tries to evoke a sense of peace and tranquility in her paintings.

A landscape painter with a love of the West Coast, Amanda comments that “my art has given me an awareness of the world around me. I find myself noticing the beautiful rhythms, patterns, and contrasts in my surroundings, and I hope to convey this in my paintings.” Amanda’s work has received several awards and is part of many private collections.
